Tattoo Aftercare

These are my recommended instructions for tattoo aftercare. Please follow them as strictly as possible during the healing process, but remember that everyone heals differently and results may vary depending on tattoo size and also how much needlework had been done, particularly packing large areas. Different colour ink can also vary in how a tattoo heals.

TATTOO SETTLING

Immediately after your session you will be given around 10 - 15 minutes to allow your tattoo to breathe and expel any excess blood or bodily fluids. Your tattoo will then be throughly cleaned and wrapped so you can leave.

AFTER TATTOO WRAP

We do not favour any "second skin" products for healing. Tattoos do not need glorified plasters in our opinion. Cling film wrap will be placed around the tattoo immediately after your session has finished, along with a layer of Inkeeze or foam. This wrap must stay on for around 1.5 HOURS but NO LONGER THAN 2 HOURS. After this time you need to remove the wrap. You now need to wash your tattoo.

FIRST WASH OF TATTOO

Wash your tattoo as you normally would your body in a warm shower, using your usual body wash. Gently use your hands. Do NOT scrub or vigorously use a towel to dry. Pat dry and leave to air dry fully.

After the first wash, leave your tattoo uncovered to air for the next few hours and then apply a light layer of Inkeeze once the tattoo is completely dry. A small amount will go a long way depending on the size of your tattoo.

Never apply products, creams or oils to a wet tattoo.

Repeat the whole process every day, and apply your Inkeeze 2 times a day.

SCABBING - 4 - 7 days

Once the scabbing process begins, do not be tempted to pick it. Washing when scabbing will soften the scabs and remove them naturally, then use your Inkeeze product as relief once dry.

JUST REMEMBER. WASH GENTLY, AIR DRY THOROUGHLY, APPLY PRODUCT. ALLOW TO DRY AGAIN.

After applying products, never put on clothing that will stick, until its dry. Ink may be lifted off and damage your tattoo. Jersey cotton with fleece back interior is an absolute no no ( joggers, sweatshirts etc) until your tattoo is fully dry. Denim or hard wearing clothing should be avoided completely until your tattoo is fully healed.

DO NOT USE VASELINE or any Petroleum based products as they can clog the pores and suffocate the tattoo healing process.
